Eurodefense delegation meets the EU Defence and Space Commissioner and members of the European Parliament

On 24–25 September 2025, Robert Walter, President of Eurodefense-UK, joined other national chapter presidents—including Liviu Muresan (Romania), Tamas Rath (Hungary), Jean-Marc Vigilant (France), Jan Wind (Netherlands), Luís Valença Pinto (Portugal), Manuel de la Cámara (Spain) and Miguel Carvalho Gomes (Secretary General), for a high-level visit to Brussels.

Meeting with Commissioner

On 24 September, the group met European Commissioner Andrius Kubilius to discuss the EU’s strategic defence priorities and the EURODEFENSE network’s contributions, including its recent report on equipment commissioning. Key topics included prospects for greater European Defence integration, the Commission’s role in new initiatives such as the White Paper, SAFE regulation, and Defence omnibus, the effects of the EU–US trade deal on autonomy, industry fragmentation, and accelerating innovation via SME and research collaboration. The Commissioner confirmed advanced negotiations with the UK regarding participation in the SAFE initiative.

Meeting with EPP

The delegation met at the European Parliament with EPP members of the Security and Defence Committee, including MEPs Christophe Gomart and Hélder Sousa Silva. Discussions addressed key political and industrial challenges in European Defence, such as integration barriers, global trade impacts, and the need for more cooperation and innovation.

Informal ED Meeting

On 25 September, an informal presidents’ meeting took place at Club Prince Albert, hosted by Theodosis Georgiou. The visit ended with a discussion at the European Parliament with Renew Europe Group Security and Defence Committee members, focusing on parliamentary perspectives.

This mission highlighted EURODEFENSE’s ongoing efforts to engage with European institutions and offer expert input on Europe’s security and defence.


Eurodefense UK hosts network international meetings, London 2023

The 2023 EURODEFENSE International meeting, was held in London from 12 to 14 November, organised by Eurodefense – United Kingdom.

The meeting started with a welcoming dinner at the Royal Air Force Club on 12 November

The meeting of the Council of Presidents took place on 13 November in the Library of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), partner of the event with the Centre for European Reform. Its agenda included a preparation of the next meetings, the assessment of the activities, which include European Working Groups and observatories, as well as an open debate on the present international situation and future of the defence of Europe.

On the evening, the delegations were received at the French Ambassador’s residence, where the Ambassador, Madame Hélêne Duchêne, celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Saint- Malo Agreement and promoted the achievements and the reinforcement of the defence of Europe.
